In comparison to other parts of the world, South Asian nations like Pakistan emphasize teaching Muslims the Six Kalimas, an integral aspect of their religious beliefs. However, since the six pillars of Islam convey the most essential and fundamental principles, all Muslims worldwide must comprehend them. Acquire the knowledge that ALLAH is the sole and most remarkable being. There can be no alliances with ALLAH. Islam is monotheistic, according to the Kalimas.

Discover the deep meaning and benefits of the Kalimas, representing the core of Islamic thought

1. First Kalima: Tayyab (Purity)

English Translation: There is no God, but ALLAH and Muhammad (ﷺ) are the messengers of

ALLAH.

Benefits:

  • Reciting the first Kalma is essential in Islam because it is a declaration, an oath, or a vow to keep half of the agreement. Regarding our topic, Shahadah is the most important of the Islamic precepts.
  • Saying the first kalima, its primary value, brings us great peace of mind and clarifies the reason for our existence.
  • The minor tip of this saying is money, health, success, and many other things. It also enlightens the graves so we might obtain rewards in life after death. If we memorize the first Kalma, ALLAH has promised us Jannah, or paradise.
  • Muslims recite these passages as a sign of their commitment to the core tenets of their religion.

2. Second Kalma: Shahadat (Testimony)

English Translation: I bear witness that no one is worthy of worship, but ALLAH, the One alone, without a partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad (ﷺ) is His servant and Messenger.

Benefits:

  • For Christians who say it at death, it delivers the good news of paradise.
  • The one who bears witness to this kalima can enter all eight doors of paradise after making wudu.
  • Its five-daily recitation in Azaan makes its significance abundantly evident.
  • It teaches us about the unity of ALLAH SWT and Tauheed.
  • It keeps us from being shirkers.
  • It also aids in our understanding that ALLAH is the supreme power and that no one can surpass Him.

English Translation: Glory be to ALLAH and Praise to ALLAH; there is no God but ALLAH, and ALLAH is the Greatest. Moreover, there is no Might or Power except with ALLAH.

  • By acknowledging ALLAH’s majesty, perfection, and magnificence, the Kalma Tamjeed exalts Him. It also functions as a means of expressing appreciation and thanksgiving for ALLAH’s attributes.
  • The practice of Kalma Tamjeed is a great way to encourage commitment.
  • It is an excellent method to ask ALLAH, the Almighty, for pardon.

4. Fourth Kalma: Tauheed (Unity)

English Translation: (There is) none worthy of worship except ALLAH. He is the only One. (There is) no partners for Him. For Him (is) the kingdom. Moreover, for Through Him (is) the Praise. He gives life and causes death. Moreover, He (is) Alive. He will not die, never, ever. Possessor of Majesty and Reverence. In His hand (is) the goodness. Moreover, He (is) the goodness. Moreover, He (is) on everything powerful.

Benefits:

Numerous hadiths discuss aspects of the fourth kalima and its relevance.

  • The Prophet (ﷺ) used to remember ALLAH after every prayer by reciting tahlil (saying la ilaha illa ALLAH= there is no deity save ALLAH), which the fourth kalima accomplishes.
  • According to a hadith, those who chant La ilaha ill ALLAH, wahdahu la sharika lahu, lahul-mulku wa lahul-hamdu, wa huwa ala kulli sha’in Qadir 100 times in a day will be rewarded as if they released ten slaves, received 100 credits, and had their sins forgiven.

5. Fifth Kalma: Astaghfar (Penitence)

English Translation: I seek forgiveness from ALLAH, my lord, from every sin I committed knowingly or unknowingly, secretly or openly, and I turn towards Him from the sin that I know and from the sin that I do not know. Certainly You, You (are) the knower of the hidden things and the Concealer (of) the mistakes and the Forgiver (of) the sins. Moreover, (there is) no power and no strength except from ALLAH, the Most High, the Most Great.

Benefits:

  • The 5kalma, a powerful proclamation appealing for forgiveness, actively bridges the gap between believers and ALLAH. Speaking intentionally and repentantly creates a direct relationship, fostering spiritual closeness.
  • Astaghfar is an excellent approach for increasing rizq (profits) and overall pleasure.
  • This dua will assist us in breaking free from the cycle of worldly concerns and opening up channels of provision, making it especially beneficial to the destitute or facing financial troubles.
  • Reciting the Fifth Kalima Astaghfar regularly can result in abundance and success, mental and spiritual cleansing, and alignment with ALLAH’s will.
  • Reciting the fifth kalima is thought to provide a spiritual cure for anxiety by pleading with God for forgiveness.

6. Sixth Kalma: Radde Kufr (Rejecting Disbelief)

English Translation: O ALLAH! Indeed, I seek protection from You, associate partner with You with anything, and I know it. Moreover, I seek forgiveness from You because I do not know it. I repented and made myself free from disbelief and polytheism and the falsehood and the back-biting and the innovation and the tell-tales and the evil deeds and the blame and the disobedience. Moreover, I submit, and I say (there is) none worthy of worship except ALLAH; Muhammad (ﷺ) is the Messenger of ALLAH.

Benefits:

  • It educates us about Islam’s fundamental principle of unbelief.
  • It helps a Muslim to have a firm faith in ALLAH as God and Islam as his religion.
  • It allows the believer to step back from significant and minor sins, including backbiting, harmful innovations, and tale-telling.
  • This Kalima explains the fundamental Islamic notion of kufr. This is a big issue, but Kufr generally refers to not believing in or rejecting the faith, often known as being a non-believer.
  • Protect your faith from disobedience, adultery, shirk, and external dangers.
  • It is also chanted to seek forgiveness for misdeeds.
